Of course, even a luxury bath towel has a very important role to play; it’s not just an accessory, so as you shop and evaluate luxury bath towels remember that it’s not all about color. You don’t want to buy beautiful set of luxury bath towels in the perfect color and get them home to find out they aren’t really very absorbent and they are feel rough against your skin.

To make sure that you will be happy with your purchase, especially when shopping online since you don’t have the chance to “feel” the actual towel against your skin, you need to may need a quick tutorial on what options are available and what the advantages are of each. There are essentially five types of material that you will come across most frequently as you shop online. To make a smart purchase you should know the advantages and disadvantages of each type:

(1) Basic Cotton Towels – this is the type of towel you will find in most homes. It can do an excellent job of absorbing water and can be very soft to the touch. Cotton towels also tend to hold up well as they are washed and dried repeatedly.

(2) Egyptian Cotton Bath Towels – a premium type of cotton towel which can be much softer than a standard cotton bath towel and usually commands a higher price. These towels are manufactured from long Egyptian cotton fibers that are essential to creating a softer feel. The extra length of the fiber is what allows this material to be extra soft and to be very durable as well. Egyptian or Turkish cotton towels have a long standing reputation for being a premium product.

(3) Microfiber Towels – A newcomer to the bathroom, micro fiber towels are a relatively new phenomenon. This material is also extremely soft and does an excellent job of absorbing moisture and is an excellent towel if you need to absorb a lot of water, like if you have long hair and need to dry it when you come out of the bath.

(4) Terry Cloth Towels – another choice in material that you might want to think about is terry cloth. You probably first encountered this material in bath robes and it actually does a very good job of absorbing water. They tend to be relatively inexpensive so if you’re on a limited budget it’s probably not a good choice.

(5) Velour Towels - if you want to decorate tour bath, but don’t want to actually use the towels, velour may be a good choice. You will be able to find velour towels online that are very nice looking but unfortunately they are usually terrible at absorbing water so they really aren’t a very good option.

Finally, while you’re shopping, remember that it is usually better to buy to spend a little more money and buy a better grade towel. It’s probably going to be more economical for you over time if you buy a better quality towel initially. Not only will the inexpensive towels not last nearly as long, they won’t do a good job of drying you off and they won’t fell very soft against you skin.
