Pima Cotton Bath Rugs

Pima Cotton Bath Rugs - Buying Guide

If you really like the idea of the softness of Egyptian cotton but don’t want to make the investment required for a real 100% Egyptian cotton bath rug you should consider a pima cotton bath rug. You might be amazed at how little difference there actually is between a top level luxurious pima cotton bathroom rug and its Egyptian cotton competition. Even in spas and top name hotels famous for luxury pima cotton rugs are being used to pamper their guests.

Pima cotton is a excellent choice for a couple of reasons – first- it also does an excellent job of absorbing water – your bath rugs primary job – and the dense weave that is used to manufacturer these pima cotton rugs will result in a rug that will last through several years and repeated washings. Pima cotton is going to be more expensive than regular cotton but it is worth spending the few extra dollars for the difference.

But if you are going to pay a premium make sure you are getting a premium product by checking the label. The big print may say ‘Pima Cotton” but the fine print may tell you that it is a blend of pima cotton and standard cotton or so other material. That way you will have a premium product that is really soft and great at soaking up water. Take a look at some of products from name brands like Maricopa and Cochise.

One final tip if you are shopping online because you can’t run your hands across the product or pick it up to get a sense of what it “feels” like. There is another term called “GSM” or grams per square meter that you can use to know how solid and bulky the bathroom rug you purchase will feel. With luxury bath rugs you should be looking for a number up around 800-900. By the way, you should be able to find the same description on your bath towels.
